Steam Distilled Cistus is considered a rare oil. The "Rose of Sharon" is probably the cistus or rock-rose. Mount Carmel abounds in the cistus. Steam distilled cistus has a strong, sweet herbaceous, musky scent. It does not smell like a traditional rose.
Cistus is also known by the name "Rock Rose" and "Labdanum"
