Galbanum Essential Oil

Scientific Name:  Ferula galbaniflua                 

Country of Origin:  Iran

Distillation Method:  Steam Distilled

Galbanum essenital oil has a strong, green, balsamic, woody aroma.  It is best used in small amounts as it can over power a blend.

Galbanum is also a fragrant gum used in the holy incense Exodus 30:34.  In Egypt it was used for incense, embalming and cosmetics.  It was also used to treat wounds, skin disorders and inflammation and particularly useful for slow healing skin conditions.  


Blending Suggestions: benzoin, bergamot, cedarwood, cypress, fir, geranium, ginger, lavender, oakmoss, opopanax, pine, rock rose, spikenard, frankincense, cinnamon, and some florals.


Suggested Oil Uses & Properties for External Applications:

Anointing Oil, Meditation, Perfume, Skin Care

Balancing, Calming, Relaxing

Analgesic, Antispasmodic, Anti-inflammatory, Immunostimulant, Skin Regenerative


 Safety: 

Hazards: Skin irritation (low risk); skin sensitization if oxidized.

Cautions: Old or oxidized oils should be avoided.
