Our Eucalyptus (Blue Gum) essential oil has the typical strong camphor type aroma. Major chemical components are 1,8-cineole (up to 80%), alpha-pinene, limonene and globulol.

Eucalyptus belongs to the Myrtaceae (Myrtle) family and is an evergreen.  There are hundreds of different species, Eucalyptus Globulus (Blue Gum) being the most popular.


Blending Suggestions:  benzoin, cedarwood, chamomile, cypress, frankincense, geranium, ginger, grapefruit, juniper, lavender, lemon, lemongrass, marjoram, peppermint, pine, rosemary, thyme.


Suggested Oil Uses & Properties for External Applications:

Diffuser, Balms, Soap, Perfumes, Massage Oil

Clearing, Invigorating

Analgesic, Antispasmodic, Antioxidant, Anti-inflammatory, Antimicrobial, Expectorant


Safety: 

Hazards: Essential oils high in 1,8-cineole can cause CNS and breathing problems in young children.

Contraindications: Do not apply to or near the face of infants or children under ten years of age. Do NOT take internally.

Warning:  Care must be taken when using with asthmatics.


How to use Eucalyptus:

Adult Applications:

Place a drop on the corner of your pillow at the first sign of a stuffy nose.

Place a drop on a cotton ball and inhale.

Place 3-5 drops in a pan of boiling water to diffuse into the air or add to humidifier.

Add 5-10 drops to 1 cup of bath salts and add to bath water.

Compress: 5-10 drops in ½ cup of boiling water, soak cloth, and wrap.

Dilute in carrier oil and rub on chest, hands, and feet.


Children Over 10 Years Old:

Dilute in carrier oil and rub on chest, hands, and feet.

Place 3-5 drops in a pan of boiling water to diffuse into the air or add to humidifier.

If signs of irritation develop discontinue use. A skin patch test is recommended before using any oil to determine if an individual will have an allergic reaction or sensitivity to an essential oil. Contact us if you would like more information on how to do a skin patch test.


Storage:  Store in a dark colored bottle out of direct sunlight.
